Being at a small school, FUS students are close-knit and there is a distinct sense of belonging to a community. Franklin is not just a school, but a family and a home to many of our students. 

When I arrived back on campus two weeks ago, it was like coming back to a second home that I missed dearly. Even though I'm barely starting my junior year, I am already dreading the moment that I graduate and have to say goodbye to Lugano.

This feeling of 'home' is something you've probably heard me talk a lot about on the blog already... maybe too much! So don't just take my word for it! I'm super happy to finally introduce you all to a project I've been working on since last spring semester: Franklin Faces! 

My classmate and I interviewed six different Franklin students from across the world so that you could hear their stories too. Even though they come from vastly diverse backgrounds, all of the students I interviewed spoke about some common themes, including a shared sentiment of Franklin as a home. 

This first interview (Meet Clarence!) is no exception. My favorite quote from this interview is: 

"It's probably the best thing that I've done in my life so far..."

 Agreed! Franklin truly is the adventure of a lifetime.

Switzerland: All About Cantons!

This week on Adventures at Franklin, we're going to be talking about cantons - the geographic regions that make up Switzerland. If you're planning to live in Switzerland, it's important to know about the different cantons because  each one has varying laws, holidays and even languages . What even is a canton? You might ask. Well, a canton is similar to a state, like those found in countries like the United States and Mexico. However, each Swiss canton has its own constitution that has been federally approved. There are 26 cantons in total , among them several half cantons . Half cantons are cantons that split at some point. They mainly differ from other cantons in that they only send one member to the upper house of parliament, rather than two. Welcome back to Swiss Cities in Depth , a series where I explore and share what Switzerland has to offer. In the last post , I wrote about Lugano, where Franklin is located.
